Be honest ... you’re going to scroll for logos to see if it’s worth having that initial chat. Beyond being an amazing personality hire, I’ve designed a lot of stuff ... even more than what's below.
I could keep telling you how great I am, but at some point that starts to feel unreliable ... so these are the nice things other people wrote, after telling me what to do or paying my invoices.
Keegan applied his considerable talents over to Hulu as we built the new Hulu Experience. He's not only a great designer but he's a powerful thinker and strategist to boot. Keegan is a unicorn-type of creative; someone who can think critically and design freely.
Keegan is a rare talent: a strategic thinker who speaks the language of engineers and easily collaborates with them to create executable products. His design work is thought through at a systems-level perspective down to the design of how a button should function. All this while executing work at an unprecedented pace!
Keegan is an extraordinary UX Director. During MGM Resorts International's Customer Experience transformation, he was the driving force linking the vision to real live application and performance. His combination of incredible talent and creativity is unparalleled. It is rare that you find someone that can flex with a host of changes and remain true to the long term view.
Twenty years of observations: what I’ve learned about managing complex products, growing the people who build them, and working alongside the AI robots.
Give me completely undefined product, or a decade of “we’ll fix it later,” and I’m happy. I’ve spent 20 years on complex systems; from AI and ad platforms to streaming, fintech, hospitality and marketplaces. The lesson is always the same. Complexity doesn’t go away; someone decides who carries it. My job is to make sure it isn’t the user. I start with what people are trying to get done, question the current hypotheses, align with stakeholders, then build the experience around that, not around the org chart.
Some of the most rewarding work I’ve done never shipped under my name and isn't in my portfolio. I love working with junior and mid-level designers, engineers and product managers: helping them find their point of view, argue for it, and spot the difference between user feedback and personal taste. I don’t like to hand out answers. I ask the annoying question that helps someone find a better answer themselves. Good teams aren’t built in critiques. They’re built in the hallway, or at a desk with one “hey, did you think about ...” at a time.
I’ve embraced AI fully. It drafts, prototypes, summarizes, and handles the busywork that used to eat my Tuesdays. I’ve also designed and shipped AI products and features, which means I know both the magic and the failure modes. The trick is treating it like a very fast, very eager collaborator: great at the first 80%, and in need of a human with taste and judgement for the last 20%. It gets my research, my initial flows, and prototypes. My inbox? Let’s give it another year.
Once former colleagues land at the biggest design agencies, I become their emergency contact. No two calls look alike ... different clients, different stakes, different reasons the team needed an outside hand. What's stayed consistent is the pace ... get oriented quickly, ask the right questions, and start moving the work forward. These days that happens from London, but time zones have never been much of an obstacle.
